Sarah+Tiff - offbeat + inspired

Thanks for visiting our blog! We’re Sarah and Tiffany and we’re so glad you found us!  Blogging has been something on both of our minds for a long time, but in late summer of 2012, offbeat + inspired was born! We were taking a cabin trip with a bunch of friends out to Red River Gorge, KY and Tiffany started going on and on about soap making. I (Sarah) had never  actually made soap before, but I had been interested in it for a while and asked Tiffany to teach me the ropes. I live in Chicago, which is 6 hours away from Lexington (where she lives), so a hands-on demonstration was out of the question. She ended up writing me an e-mail with the full instructions and they were so easy to follow compared to all the other sites I found during my soaping research that the idea bulb started flashing over my head. That tutorial would make a perfect blog post! I told Tiffany the revelation and she loved it. Within a few weeks we launched offbeat + inspired, and now we can’t imagine life without a blog to pour all our creative and culinary antics into!

Clean Eating at Payne's: Fruit + Granola Parfait

A brief history: We’ve known each other for about 20 years — the vast majority of our lives.  As first graders, we competed to see who could draw the best Disney princesses, and as high school seniors we had a blast sitting down to family-style meals at my house with 10 of our friends and then watching Monday night football — every week (we studied during commercials… we promise). We’ve grown a ton as friends through the years, from being in each other’s weddings to enduring some of life’s most difficult struggles. Having this blog together has only solidified our (practically) lifelong friendship, and it’s been such a blessing to have that link between us to maintain a steady flow of ideas and stories. The 6 hour trip from Lexington to Chicago doesn’t seem so far anymore!

We’re excited to share our lives with you — whether we’re learning how to brew great coffee, discovering a love for fashion illustration, or exploring our favorite places to eat, shop and adventure. We hope you’ll come along for the ride!  We promise to share the successes and the failures — because let’s face it, that’s life. Not every project or recipe turns out the way you planned (at least not for us), and most of the time the mistakes lead to new ideas and definitely a few laughs!  As we share, please share too! We LOVE getting comments and really look forward to learning more about what inspires you.
